Palestine Regional Medical Center Shares Its 2025 Community Benefit Report

The report outlines how the hospital positively impacts the health and well-being of Palestine and the Anderson County area.

PALESTINE, Texas (June 3, 2026) – Palestine Regional Medical Center (PRMC) today published its community benefit and economic impact report for the 2025 calendar year. The report shares several data points detailing how the hospital positively contributes to Anderson County and the surrounding areas while supporting the health and well-being of those who live and work in the region.

“Our community benefit report shares data points detailing the multi-million dollar impact our hospital has annually on Palestine, Anderson County, and surrounding areas,” said Doug Holzbog, Market CEO of Palestine Regional Medical Center. “As a large employer, taxpayer, and provider of healthcare services, Palestine Regional continues to serve as an essential partner in the vitality of this community, as it has now for more than six decades. In 2025, we continued to do what strong community hospitals do, making healthcare services more accessible by expanding our Orthopaedics capabilities, strengthening our general surgery offerings, and opening a medical clinic in Buffalo. It’s our privilege to be partners in our patients’ healthcare journeys and in advancing the health and well-being of the community we serve.”

The report highlights the hospital’s ongoing efforts to meet the area’s growing healthcare needs by welcoming new providers, expanding service lines, and continually investing in its facilities and healthcare technology. For example, in 2025, PRMC added 14 affiliated providers in areas that included Cardiology, Family Medicine, Gastroenterology, General Surgery, Obstetrics/Gynecology (OB/GYN), Orthopaedics, and Pediatrics. It also made nearly $1.5 million in capital improvements, including investments in bladder scanners, building renovations, EMS stretchers, endoscopic scopes, new air conditioning in the medical office building, vital sign machines, and an ultrasound machine.

Additionally, Palestine provided more than $53 million in charitable or uncompensated health services to those in need, demonstrating its continued commitment to ensuring everyone has access to care, regardless of their ability to pay.

PRMC is also committed to creating environments where providers want to practice and employees want to work. In 2025, the hospital distributed nearly $50 million in salaries, wages, and benefits for its approximately 520 employees, and contributed nearly $200,000 in professional development and tuition assistance so its employees have the opportunity to learn and improve the care they provide their patients.

The report shares several examples of how PRMC is continually seeking ways to make a positive impact in the communities it serves. Last year, for instance, the organization paid nearly $8 million in provider, payroll, property, and sales taxes, displaying its commitment to fiscal responsibility that contributes to the area’s economic well-being. The hospital is also honored to have continued its support of local activities and organizations that contribute to the community, including Elkhart Middle School, Meals on Wheels Palestine, Paint Palestine Pink, Palestine and Crockett Centers for Independent Living, Palestine Area Chamber of Commerce, Palestine YMCA, Rotary Club of Palestine, Stephen F. Austin State University National Cheer Team, United Way of East/Central Texas, VFW of Anderson County, and the Wiggy Thump Music Festival (Youth Livestock Association), among others.

“Most of our team live and work in the area, and some even volunteer with these organizations and events,” said Holzbog. “Palestine Regional is proud to support so many local organizations with a shared vision of helping others and helping our community.”
