Intensive Care

Caring for the Critically Ill
That’s why we’re here.

When a life-threatening injury or illness occurs, you need close, constant attention from a team of specially trained healthcare professionals who have access to the very best medical technology. Your life depends upon it.

If you or someone you love needs critical care, know that a state-of-the-art intensive care unit (ICU) is available right here at Palestine Regional Medical Center. Our ICU team consists of hospitalists, critical care physicians (through the use of remote ICU technology), specially trained nurses, and other specialists. All are uniquely trained in all aspects of critical care.

Palestine Regional Intensive Care Unit

The ICU is a 10-bed combination medical/surgical unit for patients with actual or potentially life-threatening illnesses.

These illnesses may require:

  • Intensive nursing interventions
  • Monitoring
  • Mechanical ventilation
  • Invasive arterial monitoring
  • Inotropic and vasodilating IV therapy
  • Interpretation and treatment of dysrhythmias

What to Expect in Our ICU

The rooms are arranged to allow for maximum visibility of all patients from the central nursing station. Patient monitoring can be done at each bedside, as well as at the nurses' station. The ICU offers open visiting hours. This allows two people to remain at a patient's bedside at all times unless limits need to be enforced due to a patient's condition or any other limiting factor.
