Intensive Care

The ICU is a ten-bed combination Medical/Surgical Unit for patients with actual or potentially life-threatening illnesses. These illnesses may include:

  • Conditions requiring intensive nursing interventions
  • Monitoring
  • Mechanical ventilation
  • Invasive arterial monitoring
  • Inotropic and vasodilating IV therapy
  • Interpretation and treatment of dysrhythmias.

The rooms are arranged to allow for maximum visability of all patients from the central nursing station. Patient monitoring can be done at each bedside, as well as at the nurses' station. The ICU offers open visiting hours. This allows two people to remain at a patient's bedside at all times unless limits need to be enforced due to a patient's condition or any other limiting factor.
